What We Do
We take urban organic waste (kitchen scraps, fruit, vegetables, yard trimmings), collected from residents of Vancouver and neighbouring areas, and turn it into a biologically complete soil amendment. We do this by mixing it with other organic waste (brown material) in the correct ratio, depending on the sort of soil improvement required, and feed it to composting earthworms.
These little creatures, Nature's miracles, add an entire ecosystem to their droppings (aka castings or vermicast) while digesting their food. The beneficial microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and nematodes) that they carry with them constitute the soil food web which helps to set up or restore the balance of the soil ecosystem in your garden or planter.
You can find us at various farmers markets in and around Vancouver during the spring and summer.
Educational Workshops: Get ready to dive into the world of worm composting with our upcoming workshops (more details to come). Whether you're a seasoned gardener or a curious beginner, there's something for everyone. Let's learn and grow together!
